Tip of the Day: Fast Relief for Paper Cuts

Instantly ease the sting of a paper cut with a bit of white glue. Just dab a small amount onto the area. Once it dries, it creates a liquid-bandage barrier that will seal out germs and make it hurt less.

Five Unusual Uses for Tea: Beauty Edition

You may know that drinking tea is good for your health: Green tea, especially, is loaded with disease-fighting antioxidants, and the lower caffeine level of tea makes it a gentler alternative to coffee. But tea can also be used in a variety of ways for everyday first aid, pain relief, and even hair care! Visit our new website to find five ways to use tea for health and beauty.

Tip of the Day: Cool that Burn

You had a great weekend at the beach, but now your back is burned to a crisp. To help ease the pain of a sunburn, rub vinegar on the affected area with a cotton ball or soft cloth. You may smell a bit like salad dressing, but your skin will immediately feel cooler.

Tip of the Day: An Apple a Day...

Nothing’s worse than a bad sunburn. The good news is you don’t need an expensive lotion to soothe your poor, burnt skin. Just cut an apple in half, remove the core, and rub over the affected area for 3–4 minutes. Apples will keep your skin from blistering or peeling.

Tip of the Day: A Little Pink? Go Green.

Lots of people swear by aloe lotion, but green tea is a cheaper option and just as effective for treating sunburns. Use a washcloth soaked in tea that has been cooled in the refrigerator as a compress on your tender skin. (Some people say topically applied green tea may even protect against skin cancer.) This is also a great way to ease a sunburned scalp. After washing and rinsing your hair as usual, pour the cooled tea over your scalp. Your poor skin will thank you!

Tip of the Week: Why We Love Toothpaste

A white, pasty toothpaste (not a gel) like original Colgate should be a part of everyone’s medicine cabinet - and not just for clean teeth. This kind of toothpaste can be used to clear up pimples and even as a salve for burns. Simply dab a small amount onto affected areas and leave overnight.
